BACKGROUND: The combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has been associated with many adverse reactions. Thyroid dysfunction, the most common adverse reaction of the endocrine system, has also attracted significant attention. This study aimed to analyse the effect of ICIs combined with chemotherapy on thyroid function in patients with TNBC. METHODS: As of November 4, 2023, we searched the PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases for clinical trials of ICIs combined with chemotherapy for the treatment of TNBC. The incidence of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism was calculated using a random-effects model. RESULTS: In the final analysis, 3,226 patients from 19 studies were included. The total incidence of all-grade hypothyroidism induced by the combination of ICIs and chemotherapy in treating TNBC (12% (95% confidence intervals(CI): 0.10-0.15)) was higher than that of hyperthyroidism (5% (95% CI: 0.04-0.06)). Pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy caused the highest incidence of all grades of hypothyroidism for 13% (95% CI: 0.05-0.06). Durvalumab combined with chemotherapy caused the highest incidence of all grades of hyperthyroidism, at 7% (95% CI: 0.03-0.11). ICIs combined with chemotherapy caused a higher incidence of all grades of hypothyroidism in advanced TNBC (15% (95% CI: 0.13-0.17)) than in early stage TNBC (10% (95% CI: 0.07-0.13)). CONCLUSION: In TNBC, the incidence of hypothyroidism caused by the combination of ICIs and chemotherapy was significantly higher than that caused by hyperthyroidism. Pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy resulted in the highest incidence of hypothyroidism. The incidence of hypothyroidism in patients with advanced TNBC was significantly higher than that in patients with early stage TNBC. In addition, ICIs combined with chemotherapy resulted in 16 out of 3,226 patients experiencing grade ≥ 3 thyroid dysfunction. BACKGROUND: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a life-threatening subtype of breast cancer with limited treatment options. Therefore, this network meta-analysis (NMA) aimed to evaluate and compare the effect of various neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) options on the long-term survival of patients with TNBC. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Medline, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and major international conference databases were systematically searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the efficacy of various NCT options in patients with TNBC. Searches were performed from January 2000 to June 2023. Study heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 statistic. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% CIs were used to evaluate the pathologic complete response (pCR). The primary outcome was DFS. RESULTS: We conducted an NMA of 21 RCTs involving 8873 patients with TNBC. Our study defined the combination of anthracyclines and taxanes as the preferred treatment option. On this basis, the addition of any of the following new drugs is considered a new treatment option: bevacizumab (B), platinum (P), poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi), and immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI). Based on the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) values, the top three SUCRA area values of DFS were taxanes, anthracycline, and cyclophosphamide (TAC; 89.23%); CT (84.53%); and B (81.06%). The top three SUCRA area values of OS were CT (83.70%), TAC (62.02%), and B-containing regimens (60.06%). The top three SUCRA area values of pCR were B + P-containing regimens (82.7%), ICI + P-containing regimens (80.2%), and ICI-containing regimens (61.8%). CONCLUSIONS: This NMA showed that standard chemotherapy is a good choice with respect to long-term survival. Moreover, B associated with P-containing regimens is likely to be the optimal treatment option for neoadjuvant TNBC in terms of pCR.

Functional nucleic acids (FNAs) have attracted a lot of attention for the rapid detection of metal ions. Cr3+ is one of the major heavy metal ions in natural waters. Due to the slow ligand exchange rate of Cr3+, the FNA-based Cr3+ sensors require long assay times, limiting the on-site applications. In this study, we report that the good's buffers containing amino and polyhydroxy groups greatly increase the ligand exchange rate of Cr3+. Using EDTA as a model coordinate ligand, the Tris buffer (100 mM, pH 7.0) showed the best acceleration effect among the eight buffers. It improved the rate constant ∼20-fold, shorten the half-time 19-fold, and lowered the activation energy ∼70% at 40 °C. The Tris buffer was then applied for sensor based on the Cr3+-binding induced fluorescence quenching of fluorescein (FAM)-labeled and single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), which shortened the assay time from 1 h to 1 min. The Tris buffer also ∼100% enhanced the fluorescence intensity of FAM, achieving the 11.4-fold lower limit of detection (LOD = 6.97 nM, S/N = 3). By the combination use of the Tris buffer and ascorbic acid, the strong interference from Cu2+, Pb2+, and Fe3+ suffered in many previous reported Cr3+ sensors was avoided. The practical application of the sensor for the detection of Cr3+ spiked in the real water samples were demonstrated with high recovery percentages. The Tris buffer could be applied for other metal ions with slow ligand exchange rate (such as V2+, Co3+ and Fe2+) to solve diverse issues such as long assay time and low synthesis yield of metal complexes, without the need of heating treatment.

Background: Metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) is an aggressive histological subtype with poor prognosis. Several first-line treatments are currently available for mTNBC. This study conducted a network meta-analysis to compare these first-line regimens and to determine the regimen with the best efficacy. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Bases, and minutes of major conferences was performed. Progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and objective response rate (ORR) were analyzed via network meta-analysis using the R software (R Core Team, Vienna, Austria). The efficacy of the treatment regimens was compared using hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals. Results: A total of 29 randomized controlled trials involving 4607 patients were analyzed. The ranking was based on the surface under the cumulative ranking curve. Network meta-analysis results showed that cisplatin combined with nab-paclitaxel or paclitaxel was superior to docetaxel plus capecitabine in terms of PFS and ORR. For programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and breast cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA) mutation-positive tumors, atezolizumab/pembrolizumab combined with nab-paclitaxel and talazoparib was superior to docetaxel plus capecitabine. No significant difference was observed among the treatments in OS. Neutropenia, diarrhea, and fatigue were common serious adverse events. Conclusion: Cisplatin combined with nab-paclitaxel or paclitaxel is the preferred first-line treatment for mTNBC. For PD-L1 and BRCA mutation-positive tumors, atezolizumab/pembrolizumab combined with nab-paclitaxel and talazoparib is an effective treatment option. Neutropenia, diarrhea, and fatigue are frequently occurring serious adverse events.

Decellularized Adipose Tissue (DAT) has great clinical applicability, owing to its abundant source material, natural extracellular matrix (ECM) microenvironment, and non-immunogenic attributes, rendering it a versatile resource in the realm of tissue engineering. However, practical implementations are confronted with multifarious limitations. Among these, the selection of an appropriate gelation strategy serves as the foundation for adapting to diverse clinical contexts. The crosslinking strategies under varying physical or chemical conditions exert profound influences on the ultimate morphology and therapeutic efficacy of DAT. This review sums up the processes of DAT decellularization and subsequent gelation, with a specific emphasis on the diverse gelation strategies employed in recent experimental applications of DAT. The review expounds upon methodologies, underlying principles, and clinical implications of different gelation strategies, aiming to offer insights and inspiration for the application of DAT in tissue engineering and advance research for tissue engineering scaffold development.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: A pilot external quality assessment (EQA) scheme for molecular detection of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) was conducted by the National Center for Clinical Laboratories (NCCL) to evaluate the testing capabilities of clinical laboratories and the actual performance of DNA-based nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT) and RNA-based NAATs when applied in clinical settings. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The EQA panel contained twelve lyophilized samples, including positive samples containing inactivated cell culture supernatants of UU at different concentrations and sterile saline for negative samples. The positive samples were further divided into three groups of high, moderate and low concentrations. The panels were distributed to the participants and the datasets were analyzed according to the qualitative results. RESULTS: A total of 365 laboratories participated in the EQA scheme, and 360 results submitted by 338 laboratories were collected, of which 96.11 % (346/360) of the returned results and 95.86 % (324/338) of the laboratories were deemed competent. The positive percentage agreement (PPA) was ≥ 97.5 % for high and moderate concentration samples, but varied significantly for low concentration samples, decreasing from 86.94 % to 51.94 % as the sample concentration decreased. Additionally, for low concentration samples, RNA-based NAAT showed higher PPAs than DNA-based NAATs, but these results were specific to UU supernatants used in this study. CONCLUSION: Most of UU detection assays employed by the participants were generally consistent with their estimated limit of detection (LOD), and the majority of participants can reliably detect UU samples with high and moderate concentrations, while the poor analytical performance for low concentration samples requires further improvement and optimization.

RESUMO

Assessing individual risks of healthy aging using biomarkers and identifying associated factors have become important areas of research. In this study, we conducted a literature review of relevant publications between 2018 and 2023 in both Chinese and English databases. Previous studies have predominantly used single biomarkers, such as C-reactive protein, or focused on specific life course stages and factors such as socioeconomic status, mental health, educational levels, and unhealthy lifestyles. By summarizing the progress in this field, our study provides valuable insights and future directions for promoting healthy aging from a life course perspective.

BACKGROUND: Numerous studies have reported the efficacy of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for treating breast cancer. However, during cytotoxic drug treatment, long-term disabling fatigue is common. Moreover, studies in the relevant literature have indicated that fatigue can significantly increase the incidence of depression and sleep disorders. Therefore, this meta-analysis aims to evaluate the incidence of fatigue in breast cancer survivors treated with ADCs. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched for articles and conference abstracts published before March 16, 2023. Further, two authors independently extracted data from the included studies. The primary outcome of this study was the incidence of all-grade fatigue caused by the use of ADCs in patients with breast cancer. Finally, a random-effects model was used to calculate the incidence and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of the outcome. RESULTS: Overall, 7963 patients from 31 studies were included in this meta-analysis to assess the incidence of fatigue caused by the use of approved and marketed ADCs in patients with breast cancer. Notably, the incidence of all-grade fatigue during ADC monotherapy was 39.84% (95% CI, 35.09%-44.69%). In subgroup analyses, among ADCs, the incidence of trastuzumab deruxtecan-induced fatigue was the highest, with an all-grade fatigue incidence of 47.05% (95% CI, 42.38%-51.75%). Meanwhile, the incidence of trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1)-induced all-grade fatigue was 35.17% (95% CI, 28.87%-41.74%), which was the lowest among ADCs. Further, the incidence of all-grade fatigue due to sacituzumab govitecan was 42.82% (95% CI, 34.54%-51.32%), which was higher than that due to T-DM1. Moreover, the incidence of fatigue was higher with T-DM1 combination therapy than with monotherapy. CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians have highlighted the high incidence of ADC-related fatigue and its negative impact on patients' physical and mental health, making fatigue an important research variable. The results of this study will further contribute to a comprehensive understanding of ADCs, which have some clinical importance and are of great benefit to patients with breast cancer.

Obesity is a risk factor for colorectal cancer (CRC), and the involvement of gut microbiota in the pathogenesis of obesity and CRC is widely recognized. However, the landscape of fecal microbiome and metabolome distinguishing patients with obesity-related CRC from obesity remains unknown. Here, we utilize metagenomic sequencing and metabolomics from 522 patients with CRC and healthy controls to identify the characteristics of obese CRC. Our integrated analysis reveals that obesity-related CRC is characterized by elevated Peptostreptococcus stomatis, dysregulated fatty acids and phospholipids, and altered Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways involving glycerophospholipid metabolism and lipopolysaccharide synthesis. Correlation analysis unveils microbial interactions in obesity, where the probiotic Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and the tumor-promoting species P. stomatis may engage in cross-feeding, thereby promoting tumorigenesis. In vitro experiments affirm enhanced growth under cross-feeding conditions. The mutualistic microbe-microbe interaction may contribute to the association between obesity and elevated CRC risk. Additionally, diagnostic models incorporating BMI-specific microbial biomarkers display promise for precise CRC screening.

Understanding the molecular complexity of this phenomenon provides innovative targets for maintaining phenotypic integrity during in vitro expansion, thereby advancing corneal endothelial tissue engineering. In this study, we established an in vitro model to simulate endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) in corneal endothelial cells. Through RNA sequencing, we identified 452 upregulated and 163 downregulated genes, resulting in a total of 615 differentially expressed genes. Key pathways enriched by GO and KEGG analysis include extracellular matrix (ECM) regulation and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Potential hub proteins such as THBS1, ITGA5, COL1A1, and SNAI1/2 were also identified, and their dynamic changes at different time points (0, 2, 12, 24 h) were monitored. Uncovering these key pathways and genes may deepen our understanding of the mechanisms underlying EndMT in corneal endothelial cells, providing valuable insights for optimizing in vitro cultivation strategies.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) seriously threatens public health and safety. Genetic variants determine the expression of SARS-CoV-2 structural proteins, which are associated with enhanced transmissibility, enhanced virulence, and immune escape. Vaccination is encouraged as a public health intervention, and different types of vaccines are used worldwide. However, new variants continue to emerge, especially the Omicron complex, and the neutralizing antibody responses are diminished significantly. In this review, we outlined the uniqueness of SARS-CoV-2 from three perspectives. First, we described the detailed structure of the spike (S) protein, which is highly susceptible to mutations and contributes to the distinct infection cycle of the virus. Second, we systematically summarized the immunoglobulin G epitopes of SARS-CoV-2 and highlighted the central role of the nonconserved regions of the S protein in adaptive immune escape. Third, we provided an overview of the vaccines targeting the S protein and discussed the impact of the nonconserved regions on vaccine effectiveness. The characterization and identification of the structure and genomic organization of SARS-CoV-2 will help elucidate its mechanisms of viral mutation and infection and provide a basis for the selection of optimal treatments. The leaps in advancements regarding improved diagnosis, targeted vaccines and therapeutic remedies provide sound evidence showing that scientific understanding, research, and technology evolved at the pace of the pandemic.

COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, remains a global health crisis. The emergence of multiple variants with enhanced characteristics necessitates their detection and monitoring. Genome sequencing, the gold standard, faces implementation challenges due to complexity, cost, and limited throughput. The CRISPR-Cas system offers promising potential for rapid variant detection, with advantages such as speed, sensitivity, specificity, and programmability. This review provides an in-depth examination of the applications of CRISPR-Cas in mutation detection specifically for SARS-CoV-2. It begins by introducing SARS-CoV-2 and existing variant detection platforms. The principles of the CRISPR-Cas system are then clarified, followed by an exploration of three CRISPR-Cas-based mutation detection platforms, which are evaluated from different perspectives. The review discusses strategies for mutation site selection and the utilization of CRISPR-Cas, offering valuable insights for the development of mutation detection methods. Furthermore, a critical analysis of the clinical applications, advantages, disadvantages, challenges, and prospects of the CRISPR-Cas system is provided.

BACKGROUND: The detection of cancer gene mutations in biofluids plays a pivotal role in revolutionizing disease diagnosis. The presence of a large background of wild-type sequences poses a challenge to liquid biopsy of tumor mutation genes. Suppressing the detection of wild-type sequences can reduce their interference, however, due to the minimal difference between mutant and wild-type sequences (such as single nucleotide variants differing by only one nucleotide), how to suppress the detection of wild-type sequences to the greatest extent without compromising the sensitivity of mutant sequence detection remains to be explored. SIGNIFICANCE: The RLP system addresses the incompatibility between RPA and RT-PCR reactions through a physical separation strategy. Besides, due to the remarkable flexibility of locked nucleic acid probes, the RLP system emerges as a potent tool for detecting mutations across diverse genes. It excels in sensitivity and speed, tolerates plasma matrix, and is cost-effective. This bodes well for advancing the field of precision medicine. RESULTS: The recombinase-assisted locked nucleic acid (LNA) probe-mediated dual amplification biosensing platform (namely RLP), which combines recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and LNA clamp PCR method in one tube, enabling highly sensitive and selective detection of EGFR T790M mutation under the help of well-designed LNA probes. This technique can quantify DNA targets with a limit of detection (LoD) at the single copy level and identify point mutation with mutant allelic fractions as low as 0.007 % in 45 min. Moreover, RLP has the potential for the direct detection of plasma samples without the need for nucleic acid extraction and the cost of a single test is less than 1USD. Furthermore, the RLP system is a cascading dual amplification reaction conducted in a single tube, which eliminates the risk of cross-contamination associated with opening multiple tubes and ensures the reliability of the results.

Targeted panel-based tumor mutation burden (TMB) assays are widely employed to guide immunotherapy for patients with solid tumors. However, the accuracy and consistency of this method can be compromised due to the variability in technical details across different laboratories, particularly in terms of panel size, somatic mutation detection and TMB calculation rules. Currently, systematic evaluations of the impact of these technical factors on existing assays and best practice recommendations remain lacking. We assessed the performance of 50 participating panel-based TMB assays involving 38 unique methods using cell line samples. In silico experiments utilizing TCGA MC3 datasets were performed to further dissect the impact of technical factors. Here we show that the panel sizes beyond 1.04 Mb and 389 genes are necessary for the basic discrete accuracy, as determined by over 40,000 synthetic panels. The somatic mutation detection should maintain a reciprocal gap of recall and precision less than 0.179 for reliable psTMB calculation results. The inclusion of synonymous, nonsense and hotspot mutations could enhance the accuracy of panel-based TMB assay. A 5% variant allele frequency cut-off is suitable for TMB assays using tumor samples with at least 20% tumor purity. In conclusion, this multicenter study elucidates the major technical factors as sources of variability in panel-based TMB assays and proposed comprehensive recommendations for the enhancement of accuracy and consistency. These findings will assist clinical laboratories in optimizing the methodological details through bioinformatic experiments to enhance the reliability of panel-based methods.

BACKGROUND: Lysiphlebia japonica Ashmead (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) is an endophagous parasitoid wasp and its host, Aphis gossypii Glover (Hemiptera, Aphididae) is a major cotton pest. L. japonica affects the growth and fatty acid metabolism of cotton aphids after parasitization and has been widely used as a biocontrol agent. However, there are currently few reports about the molecular characteristics of L. japonica, especially the differences between male and female. RESULTS: In this study, using transcriptome and proteome analysis of the abdomen of female and male parasitic wasps, respectively, we obtained a total of 27,169 DEGs and 1,194 DEPs, then a total of 909 positively correlated high-expression proteins and genes were obtained by combined omics analysis. Subsequently, 20 differentially expressed abdomen specific proteins were selected for validation by RT-qPCR and Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) protein verification. The result of RT-qPCR demonstrated that all 20 genes were highly expressed in the abdomen of females, and five target proteins with unique peptide fragments and identification profiles were identified by MRM, which were venom protease, tropomyosin, lipase member I, venom serine carboxypeptidase and calreticulin, respectively. CONCLUSION: Overall, these results provided molecular resources for the differences between males and females in L. japonica and the screened 20 abdomen specific proteins were verified to demonstrate the validity of the data, which offered important molecular data resources for further studies on the related functional genes of parasitic wasps and the mechanism of parasitoids regulating the growth of aphids. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The incidence and mortality rate of colorectal cancer (CRC) are increasing worldwide. Septin9 methylated (mSEPT9) DNA in circulation can be used as a non-invasive detection method to assist in the early diagnosis of CRC; however, the detection methods and procedures are complicated. This study aimed to evaluate the ability of clinical laboratories to detect Septin9 methylation in plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA). MATERIALS AND METHODS: We prepared a sample panel consisting of positive and negative Septin9 methylation cells and CRC cells. Three positive samples with different methylation levels, one negative sample and one duplicate sample, two samples containing interference, three different CRC cell samples, and a fictitious case report were included. The panel was distributed to 59 laboratories for mSEPT9 analysis, result comparison, and scoring. RESULTS: The sample panel, validated by National Medical Products Administration (NMPA)-approved tests and targeted bisulfite sequencing, met expectations and could be used for external quality assessment (EQA). Among the 59 laboratories, 55 (93.22%) correctly reported the mSEPT9 results for all samples, while four (6.79%) reported 15 false negatives and were considered improvable. All false negatives originated from four laboratories using laboratory-developed tests (LDTs), with three failing to detect weakly positive samples, samples containing interference, and samples from different CRC cells, and one reported erroneous results on all positive samples. CONCLUSION: Our results illustrated that the detection of mSEPT9 in cfDNA is satisfactory in China. EQA is indispensable because it can help improve the diagnostic capability and quality management of the laboratories, and provide suggestions for the problems existing in mSEPT9 detection.

Improving generalization ability in multi-robot formation can reduce repetitive training and calculation. In this paper, we study the multi-robot formation problem with the ability to generalize the target position. Since the generalization ability of neural network is directly proportional to spatial dimension, we adopt the strategy of using different networks to solve different objectives, so that the network learning can focus on the learning of one objective to obtain better performance. In addition, this paper presents a distributed deep reinforcement learning method based on soft actor-critic algorithm for solving multi-robot formation problem. At the same time, the formation evaluation assignment function is designed to adapt to distributed training. Compared with the original algorithm, the improved algorithm can get higher reward cumulative values. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can better maintain the desired formation in the moving process, and the rotation design in the reward function makes the multi-robot system have better flexibility in formation. The comparison of control signal curve shows that the proposed algorithm is more stable. At the end of the experiments, the universality of the proposed algorithm in formation maintenance and formation variations is demonstrated.

Background: The wide use of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) is transforming the cancer-treatment landscape. Understanding the treatment-related adverse events (AEs) of ADCs is crucial for their clinical application. We conducted a meta-analysis to analyze the profile and incidence of AEs related to ADC use in the treatment of solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Methods: We searched the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for articles published from January 2001 to October 2022. The overall profile and incidence of all-grade and grade ≥ 3 treatment-related AEs were the primary outcomes of the analysis. Results: A total of 138 trials involving 15,473 patients were included in this study. The overall incidence of any-grade treatment-related AEs was 100.0% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 99.9%-100.0%; I 2 = 89%) and the incidence of grade ≥ 3 treatment-related AEs was 6.2% (95% CI: 3.0%-12.4%; I² = 99%). Conclusions: This study provides a comprehensive overview of AEs related to ADCs used for cancer treatment. ADC use resulted in a high incidence of any-grade AEs but a low incidence of grade ≥ 3 AEs. The AE profiles and incidence differed according to cancer type, ADC type, and ADC components.

Aconitum carmichaelii is a herbaceous herb indigenous to China that has been cultivated for traditional medicine for centuries. Virus-like symptoms of A. carmichaelii plants were observed on leaves in some A. carmichaelii plantations in Zhanyi and Wuding Counties, Yunnan Province, southwest China. High-throughput sequencing (HTS) was performed on 28 symptomatic plants, and the results revealed infection with 11 viruses, including 2 novel viruses and 9 previously described viruses: Aconitum amalgavirus 1 (AcoAV-1), aconite virus A (AcVA), cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), currant latent virus (CuLV), apple stem grooving virus (ASGV), chilli veinal mottle virus (ChiVMV), tomato spotted wilt orthotospovirus (TSWV), tobacco vein distorting virus (TVDV), and potato leafroll virus (PLRV). Two novel viruses tentatively named Aconitum potyvirus 1 and Aconitum betapartitivirus 1, were supported by sequence and phylogenetic analysis results of their genomes. We proposed the names Potyvirus aconiti and Betapartitivirus aconiti. RT-PCR assays of 142 plants revealed the predominance and widespread distribution of CMV, AcVA, and AcoPV-1 in plantations. The detection of isolates of CuLV, ASGV, ChiVMV, TSWV, TVDV, and PLRV infections for the first time in A. carmichaelii expands their known host ranges.

α1C-tubulin (TUBA1C) is a member of the α-tubulin family and has served as a potential biomarker in a variety of cancers in many studies. In this study, the gene expression profile of TUBA1C in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) was extracted for analysis, and the prognostic value of TUBA1C in breast cancer was comprehensively evaluated. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and logistic regression analysis were performed to confirm the correlations between TUBA1C expression and the clinical characteristics of breast cancer patients. The effect of TUBA1C expression on the survival of breast cancer patients was assessed by Kaplan-Meier curve, Cox regression analysis, and the Kaplan-Meier plotter (an online database). The TCGA data set was used for the Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA). The results confirmed that high TUBA1C expression in breast cancer was closely correlated with survival time, survival status, and tumor size. In addition, elevated TUBA1C expression can predict poor overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS). Univariate and multivariate analyses (Cox regression analyses) confirmed that TUBA1C was an independent prognostic factor for the OS of breast cancer patients. The GSEA identified that the high TUBA1C expression phenotype was differentially enriched in cell cycle, basal transcription factor, P53 signaling pathway, pathways in cancer, TOLL-like receptor signaling pathway, and NOD-like receptor signaling pathway. In summary, high messenger RNA (mRNA) expression of TUBA1C is an independent risk factor for poor prognosis of breast cancer.
